Digging - Seamus Heaney

At he beggining of the peom, seamus is sitting in his bedroom looking on at his father digging for potatoes.
The sight of his father digging reminds him of 20 years ago.

Seamus also thinks about his granfather digging.

The memory he thinks about is taking his grandfather a glass of milk and he drinks it off and carries on working.
Heaney is different to his father & his grandfather

because he wants to dig with his pen instead of his fathers spade.
